7:00 AM – DEPART SIEM REAP
Your adventure begins with an early-morning pickup from your hotel in Siem Reap.

Travel through the beautiful Cambodian countryside, passing rice fields, traditional villages and lush landscapes as you make your way toward Phnom Kulen, one of Cambodia’s most sacred mountains.

Approximate drive: 1.5–2 hours, depending on traffic and your starting point.

9:00 AM – ARRIVE AT PHNOM KULEN
Enter Phnom Kulen National Park, a magnificent mountain landscape rising to approximately 487 metres.

Take a moment to enjoy the peaceful jungle surroundings before beginning your exploration of this historically important area.

Phnom Kulen is closely associated with the origins of the Khmer Empire and is also an important pilgrimage destination for Cambodian people.

9:30 AM – RIVER OF THE 1,000 LINGAS

Walk through the lush forest to the fascinating River of the 1,000 Lingas.

Here, ancient carvings of lingas and other Hindu imagery can be seen carved into the sandstone riverbed beneath the flowing water.

It is a remarkable combination of ancient Khmer history, religion and nature, and the sacred water continues to hold special significance in Cambodian culture.

10:30 AM – PREAH ANG THOM & THE RECLINING BUDDHA

Continue to Preah Ang Thom, one of the most revered religious sites on Phnom Kulen.

Climb the steps to discover the impressive 8-metre-long reclining Buddha, carved directly into a natural sandstone boulder.

Take time to explore the pagoda, observe local pilgrims and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this sacred mountain sanctuary.

12:00 PM – LOCAL LUNCH
Enjoy a relaxed Cambodian lunch at a local restaurant or picnic-style setting near the waterfall area.

1:00 PM – PHNOM KULEN WATERFALL

Now it’s time to cool down at the spectacular Phnom Kulen Waterfall.

The waterfall has two main levels, with the lower cascade creating a beautiful natural swimming area.

2:30 PM – SACRED FOREST & NATURE EXPERIENCE

Take a leisurely walk through the surrounding forest and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Phnom Kulen.

This is a chance to escape the busy temples and experience another side of Cambodia — lush jungle, flowing water, sandstone landscapes and fresh mountain air.

3:30 PM – DESCEND THE MOUNTAIN

Begin the scenic drive back down Phnom Kulen.

The mountain road operates with a directional traffic system, with vehicles travelling up in the morning and down after midday, so the itinerary is designed accordingly.

5:00–5:30 PM – ARRIVE BACK IN SIEM REAP

One of the unique features of visiting Kulen Mountain is the special traffic system on the mountain road:

🚙 Before 12:00 PM: Vehicles travel up the mountain toward Phnom Kulen.
🚗 After 12:00 PM: Vehicles travel down the mountain from Phnom Kulen.
⏰ For this reason, visitors should start their journey to the mountain early in the morning and complete their sightseeing before beginning the descent after midday.

Tips

✅ Please note that you must be dressed appropriately for visiting some of our temples, Angkor Wat, Baphoun inside Angkor Thom, Phnom Bakheng and climbing some temples. This means your pants or skirt should cover your knees and shirt can not be sleeveless (make sure that your shirt covers your shoulders, no singlets!) otherwise you won’t be allowed entry or to climb up this is by Temples Authority. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended and wearing light cotton clothes are suggested as well for the weather from March to July as it’s very hot with high humidity.

✅ The official currency in Cambodia is the Cambodian Riel (KHR), however USD$ are used everywhere in the country and most of the prices are set in USD. We advise you to bring US$ and remember to bring new and clean bank notes as the old or torn notes will not be accepted at most places. ATMs are almost everywhere in the city also and making it easy to withdraw cash in USD. The exchange rate is usually roughly KHR4000 to US$1, so if you give US$2 for something which costs KHR6000, you will usually receive back KHR2000.
